The true price of a bunch of flowers

Hat tip to Paul Dulais on the travellors blog Travelpod for this worrying tale

This is a story of an ecosystem in sharp decline, unable to cope with new activities and demands and wobbling precariously. In sharp contrast to the previous post, this is a story of adaptation within a system that appears out of synchronisation with the bigger system and so the perturbations are much much larger. It may well stabilise around attractors such as the ‘cut flowers business” eventually, but the current biodiversity will undoubtably suffer badly.
