Yoghurt in a Snowstorm

Loved the story of Rachel Rowlands, founder of Rachel Organic’s in yesterday’s Sunday Times.

This is a great example of a complex system adapting in the face of adversity, with new possibilities emerging, which eventually self organise and pattern around a few particularly workable outcomes. These outcomes then become attractors in their own right, investment comes from within the bigger system, as reinforcing feedback. The whole new business effectively makes and takes its own niche. (or as we say in Sunderland ‘macks and tacks its own niche’).
